An opportunity to hear about the experiences of Local Authority Music Services who have gone through the process of setting up a charitable arm to enable them to develop a broader fundraising plan to support the work of their music service.
During this meeting we will hear from Music Mark members, running a Local Authority Music Service, who have gone through the process of setting up a charitable arm to enable them to develop a broader fundraising plan for to support the work of their music service.
Gary Griffiths, Music Mark Programmes and Engagement Director will be joined by Stuart Whatmore, Head of Tri Borough Music Service, Kath Page, Head of Southampton Music Service and Peter Lovell, Essex Music Service Lead Officer who will talk about their experiences of setting up the charity, including outlining the challenges they encountered along the way and the benefits having a charity has provided. Augustus Della-Porta, partner in the charity and social enterprise team at Bates Wells will be on hand to provide a legal perspective.
Open to all member organisations, please note that this session focuses on achieving charity status specifically within local authority music services and therefore may not be useful for independent music services and/or other music education organisations.
