Elected Trustees
This is your opportunity to play a part in the leadership of your membership association and guide its future! Music Mark is seeking two Members to be elected to positions on the Board of Trustees.
The Board of Trustees plays a key role in developing the strategic direction of Music Mark and is responsible for the financial health of the organisation. In order to ensure the most effective governance of the Charity, the Board needs people with a broad range of skills, knowledge and life experiences. We welcome applications from individuals who could help Music Mark to expand the range of expertise on its board. Music Mark is committed to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and the Board would welcome applications from individuals from under-represented communities and backgrounds. Find out more about the current Trustees on our website.
What does being a Trustee involve?
- The Board of Trustees meets approximately five times per year, usually for 3-hour meetings.
- Most meetings are held online but Trustees also meet in person at least once per year. Trustees will usually be able to attend in-person meetings virtually using video conferencing software if they are unable to attend in person. Music Mark will provide catering for all in-person meetings.
- Documents to be read will be shared with you in advance of each meeting.
- From time to time, Trustees will be asked to volunteer to work on specific projects alongside fellow Trustees and the Music Mark staff team.
What will I gain from being a Trustee?
- Being a Trustee is a great way to give something back to your membership association but it can also bring you new skills, confidence and connections to develop you career. We wrote about this in a recent news article so do take a look.
- Music Mark will be happy to discuss any training needs you may have in order that you can fulfil your role as a Trustee.
- The Board of Trustees welcomes vibrant, respectful debate and will ensure that you are able to express your views and challenge the views of others.
Who can be elected to the Board of Trustees?
- Applications are invited from individual and organisational Music Mark Members.
- Colleagues from our Industry Partners and Music Mark Schools cannot stand for election to the Board of Trustees though applications are welcomed from paying School Members.
- Each organisational Member has one Nominated Representative. You can apply to become an elected Trustee regardless of whether you are the Nominated Representative but if successfully elected, you would become the Nominated Representative for your organisation. Each organisational Member can only have one Nominated Representative and there can therefore only be one elected Trustee per organisational Member.
