Why Care About Inclusion?
Join our panel of experts for ‘Why Care About Inclusion?’, a free, online discussion about why inclusion in the music sector matters now more than ever.

Every day we see the barriers our young musicians and emerging educators face in building a career in music, feeling that they don’t belong, for reasons relating to ethnicity, gender, disability, age, faith and more. Questions about equity, diversity and inclusion in our music organisations matter and we’re ready to ask them.
You’ll hear first-hand experiences, sector developments in this area and practical solutions for improvement from our special guests including:
- Alex Marshall (Spot the Gap consultancy)
- Samantha Stimpson (SLS 360)
- Sarah Gee (CEO and Artistic Director at Spitalfields Music)
- Aaron Azunda Akugbo (Principal Trumpet at Aurora Orchestra)
In our Q&A section there’s a chance to ask your questions and voice your opinions. You’ll also hear about the exciting relaunch of I’M IN, our programme that gives music organisations the time and space to look honestly at how equitable, diverse and inclusive they are, and the support to act on what they find.
