Rethinking Music Education for the Next Generation with Digit Music
What happens when the technology pupils already use becomes a musical instrument? In this webinar, Digit Music explores making music more accessible through digital instruments.

In this webinar, Digit Music shares the story of a primary school where one teacher delivered ten weeks of whole-class music with Years 5 and 6, using existing classroom tablets to perform, compose and explore music.
The project introduced contemporary genres including house, drum & bass, UK garage and hip hop, culminating in a live performance. Pupils showed sustained engagement and growing confidence, while the teacher developed the confidence to continue independently.
Topics covered include:
- making music more accessible through digital instruments
- widening participation in performance and composition
- bringing contemporary genres into music education
- supporting musical progress across different levels of experience
- how technology can help musicians and educators create more inclusive ways to make music
Digit Music will also demonstrate the instruments and tools used in the project, including CMPSR, Swipe, Arrownotes and the teaching platform.
