Transforming Behaviour — Why Managing Behaviour Doesn’t Work
Explore alternatives to traditional behaviour management with experts in behaviour change, helping you to understand challenging behaviour in children and young people and create lasting change.

We’ve all seen behaviour management strategies that don’t stick. Rules that are enforced but not understood. Young people labelled as difficult rather than understood as complex. As inclusion leaders, we know there has to be a better way, and there is.
This session challenges the fundamental assumptions behind traditional behaviour management and makes the case for transformation over control. Drawing on extensive expertise in behaviour change with children and young people, our guest speaker will explore what lies beneath challenging behaviour, what young people are really communicating, and how music education settings can respond in ways that are genuinely inclusive and lastingly effective. This is a session for inclusion leads, programme managers and practitioners working with children and young people in music education settings.
