A Common Approach: Early Years Music

  • 21st May 2026
  • 4pm - 5.30pm
  • Online (Zoom)

Music Mark’s free online music teaching curriculum – A Common Approach – has a new section on Early Years Music Education. Join us to get the scoop on the new resource.

A brand new section of A Common Approach focusing on early years music will launch in April. Developed in conjunction with early years music educators across the UK, this material supports teachers who are music specialists, but not early years specialists, to begin to facilitate general music sessions in nursery and reception classes.

This session is aimed at all music teachers who want to find out more about the new materials. Come along to:

  • Be introduced to A Common Approach by Catherine Brentnall (Editor and Coordinator of A Common Approach), including the existing instrumental and vocal content as well as the new early years content
  • Hear from two members of the early years steering group, Sue Nicholls (Independent Music Education Consultant) and Sarah Wise (Freelance Music Educator and Consultant) about the early years materials
  • Explore some of the new content practically
  • Participate in group discussions about using this resource in your teaching.
