Singing Teacher

We are looking to appoint a vocal teacher for a maternity cover position from January 2027. The role includes a varied teaching commitment comprising individual and small group vocal lessons and choirs in primary and secondary schools, and teaching advanced pupils at Redbridge Music School. There is approximately 16 hours of teaching available which is currently timetabled on Monday afternoons and evenings, Tuesday afternoons, Thursdays and Fridays. We are ideally looking for one candidate to cover the whole schedule but would consider dividing the work between two teachers. There may be some flexibility with scheduling of teaching in schools, however the Monday evening teaching cannot be moved. We are also currently preparing for our biennial Choral Festival at the Royal Albert Hall in March 2027, so this is an exciting time to join our vocal team. There may be additional opportunities to be involved in activities related to this.

Working for Redbridge Music Service Based at the John Savage Centre in Hainault, and delivering tuition in 60 Redbridge schools you will find yourself immersed in a world of musical energy, surrounded by instruments, creativity, and passion for teaching children but also adults, toddlers, and even babies. With over 50 concerts per year, including performances at iconic venues like the Royal Albert Hall, your role will directly impact the musical journeys of talented students in the community.

Essential requirements:

  • Music Degree or equivalent
  • Good Musical Skills, effective oral and Written communication
  • High level of performance on your main instrument
  • Good knowledge of the technical demands of any instrument you are competent to teach.

Enhanced DBS checks will be undertaken as part of the recruitment process. It will be necessary to request references before being invited to interview as part of safer recruitment.
