Pythagoras’ Workshops Toolkit

Added to website 26/02/2026.

A digital toolkit for exploring conducting and graphic scores through music, sound-making, crafts and puppetry.

Pythagoras’ Workshops Toolkit is a free digital resource that has emerged as an education extension of Pythagoras’ Toolkit, a playful, wordless music-puppetry theatre piece for family audiences. Developed by puppetry director Rachel Warr, composer/conductor Benjamin Oliver and music education specialist Chi Ying Lam the toolkit explores conducting and graphic scores through music, sound-making, drawing and puppetry activities.

The resource is aimed at children aged 7-11 (Key Stage 2), although can be adapted for younger or older learners. While flexible and adaptable, it is structured to meet the needs of school environments, including a downloadable guide, 31 project tutorial videos hosted on YouTube and sheet music resources. Activities from the toolkit have been piloted in Montreal and through a programme of workshops with children in Southampton, delivered in partnership with Turner Sims concert hall.
