Welcome to the Music Mark Guide to Outreach; a foundational guide to support musical connections by facilitating outreach focused on working with schools.

This guide aims to inspire those able to offer unique musical experiences to young people. Music Mark believes in music’s power to unite communities, develop transferable skills, and encourage creativity and self-expression. Through outreach, you can use your expertise to inspire the next generation and ensure that every child, regardless of background or ability, finds joy in music. With opportunities for creative exploration increasingly limited in schools, outreach offers students new and dynamic experiences. 

The guide is clearly structured as a reference document with practical suggestions and case studies throughout. It includes a glossary and acronym explainer in the appendix to clarify terminology and a table describing the differences between types of schools. Based on structures and systems in education in the United Kingdom up to Spring 2026, the guide has been written taking into account the potential for challenges and changes, as the principles and themes here will remain important considerations for outreach into the future.
