Added to website 22/06/2026.

Join the Carnival! An introduction to the orchestra like you’ve never seen before, with 12 weekly hour-long lessons designed for Year 7 pupils, developing pupil’s musical skills over a term: explore the elements of music, different forms of notation, instruments of the orchestra.

Introduce your pupils to the orchestra with members of Aurora Orchestra and their recent theatrical performance of Saint-Saëns’ ‘Carnival of the Animals’. Explore the elements of music, different forms of notation and composition, all accompanied by films and audio extracts performed by Aurora Orchestra.

The unit also includes an optional cover lesson, suitable to be delivered by non-specialist teachers in a non-music classroom, and three homework ideas. You also have the option to explore Frantic Assembly physical theatre methods and how these can be incorporated into musical performance, as done with Aurora Orchestra in their performance.
