Political Advocacy

Added to website 11/03/2024. Updated 22/03/2024.

In Spring 2024, Music Mark invited members to discuss the charity’s advocacy work and to help inform our political goals in a general election year, before running a session on Political Advocacy with arts and public affairs consultants and campaigning and electoral law experts.

Advocacy Big Meet

In February 2024, Music Mark invited members to discuss the charity’s advocacy work and to help inform our political goals in a general election year.

A recording of this session is available in 3 parts along with presentation slides and a record of the Mentimeter feedback that was collected from attendees.

Following this Big Meet, we published Ensuring the Future of Music Education which comprises six calls to action which will be presented to all political parties ahead of the UK election this year. The purpose of the six calls to action is to make the case to any new UK government that it should understand the value of music education and appreciate the positive impact music can have on health, wellbeing, academic achievement, and soft skills. We’re calling for all UK political parties to embrace our vision of accessible and excellent musical learning for all children and young people. Political Advocacy – Expert Session

In March, Music Mark were joined by Mark Pemberton OBE, the arts and public affairs consultant, to discuss how people and organisations can advocate for Music Education in their local area.

Mark was joined by Suhan Rajkumar, senior associate at law firm Bates Wells, who has a particular focus on campaigning and electoral law.
