A Summary of the Employment Rights Act 2025

Added to website 12/01/2026.

This summary of the Employment Rights Act 2025 lists the changes introduced by the Act and (where known) when they will be implemented.

This summary of the Employment Rights Act 2025 is provided for music education employers. It outlines when employers will have to comply with changes introduced by the Act. Many employee rights are being strengthened and increased duties are being placed on employers including protecting employees more effectively against harassment.

Many music education employers use zero-hours contracts. These contracts are not being made illegal but workers will have a new right to ask for guaranteed hours from some point in 2027.

Members should use this resource to ensure they comply with the new responsibilities and workers’ rights.
