Youth Folk Sampler Days: call for partners

17th October 2019

The English Folk Dance and Song Society is seeking partners for our Youth Folk Sampler Days in 2020.

We are looking for partner organisations – music hubs, youth folk groups, arts organisations, and venues – who can actively help us reach more young musicians across England and support our vision of young people throughout the country discovering, playing and loving folk music.

Each year we run 8 or 9 free Youth Folk Sampler Days in May half-term. They are inspiring days of creative music-making led by highly skilled professional folk artists. They give young musicians aged 12-18 the opportunity to have an introduction to folk music, collaborate with other musicians in their area, and learn techniques and repertoire used with the National Youth Folk Ensemble. They are also the route into the National Youth Folk Ensemble for those who wish to audition.

The Sampler Days are open to competent young instrumentalists with no folk experience, as well as committed folk players. All instruments are welcome.

In return, we can help partners to promote their work, arrange shadowing/CPD opportunities, and possibly develop folk activities in their local area.
