Schools invited to join Sing2Save campaign this September
A new national campaign is inviting schools across the UK to use music as a force for environmental action. Sing2Save, launching this September, encourages children and young people to learn and perform a specially written song while raising funds for wildlife and conservation charities.
At the centre of the initiative is We Can All Do Better, a new song by Kent-based musician and teacher Nick Drewe and lyricist Anthony Drewe. The piece was created as a tribute to Sir David Attenborough ahead of his 100th birthday, recognising his long-standing commitment to protecting the natural world.
The song has already been recorded by pupils at Farringtons School and by the National Children’s Choir of Great Britain, who will perform it at their summer concert in Birmingham on 8 August. Organisers hope schools nationwide will sign up to take part during the final week of September, combining performance with fundraising and classroom discussion about wildlife, habitats and climate responsibility.
This year’s campaign will support Butterfly Conservation, of which Sir David Attenborough is President. With a suggested donation of £1 per child, the project offers schools a simple way to connect singing, creativity and social action. A dedicated website with teaching resources, lyrics and fundraising materials is also being made available to help schools get involved.
For music educators, Sing2Save presents an opportunity to engage pupils in meaningful, cross-curricular learning while contributing to a national moment of collective music-making.
