Music Mark announces new CEO
11th May 2026
Music Mark, the UK Association for Music Education, is delighted to announce the appointment of Jennifer McKie to the role of Chief Executive Officer. Jennifer has been a friend of the organisation for many years and brings with her a wealth of knowledge about the Music Education sector, as well as thoughtful, inclusive leadership and commitment to supporting others to thrive.
Jennifer is a music education leader with over 25 years’ experience across teaching, service leadership and cultural governance and joins Music Mark from Lincolnshire Music Service, where she has served as the head of the Lincolnshire Music Service, the lead organisation for the Lincolnshire Music Hub for 13 years.
Jennifer will begin her tenure with Music Mark in August and has commented:
‘I am extremely delighted to be joining the Music Mark team at such a vital moment for music education. Music Mark has always been at my side throughout my career, and as a sector, we’re truly united in the belief of the transformative power of music to connect, uplift and transform lives. I am excited to work alongside the membership and wider sector to ensure that more children and young people experience the joy and lifelong value of music.’
Music Mark chair of trustees, Peter Smalley, remarked:
‘I am delighted that we have appointed Jennifer McKie as the next Chief Executive for Music Mark. Jennifer joins us with a wealth of experience within our sector as a Head of Music Service, musician and educator, but also with key leadership skills as a Clore Fellow. Her experience as a member of the Arts Council Midlands Area Council will be invaluable in the forthcoming months, with change on the horizon for the English Music Services. I am very excited to see her appointed to the role, and look forward to working with her. I wish her the very best of success for the years to come.’
Jennifer will join the team as they gear up for the 2026 Annual Conference in Liverpool, an event that will provide her with a first platform to address the membership and the wider music education sector.
