London Music Champions: second recruitment round in Autumn

As part of the London Music Pledge, Sound Connections and Music Mark are working together to support a small group of experienced Headteachers and Senior Leaders who have a proven track record of running a school with high quality music education. The first cohort of Champions have been appointed, drawn from both the Primary and Secondary phases and from schools with widely differing contexts and approaches to supporting the making of music within their schools but all are committed to the value of that music making in contributing to the excellence of their schools.

The Champions were recruited on the basis of being in post as a headteacher, or within a school senior leadership team, or recently retired. They also had to demonstrate a proven ability to clearly articulate the value of music education for all children, and to place music education within the ever changing education landscape.

The first cohort of Champions will be working across the 2015/16 academic year, managed by Music Mark, and working to support colleagues through school to school support and networking alongside spreading a wider advocacy message with attendance at local conferences and wider pan London opportunities. Further details on how to access this free advice and support will be available via the Music Mark website from September or email Jem Shuttleworth, General Manager on jem.shuttleworth@musicmark.org.uk

A second round of recruitment will open in the Autumn term and we would welcome application from all phases and from both the state and maintained sectors.
