Firebird Project wins London Music Award

24th June 2015

The Philharmonia’s Firebird project, a collaboration with the Royal Ballet School and Music Mark members Hounslow Music Service and Richmond Music Trust, has been awarded the outstanding musical partnership prize at the London Music Awards.

Supported by the Mayor’s Music Fund and The Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation, the project brought together 110 young dancers and musicians in 2014 to create a new piece of work inspired by Igor Stravinsky’s The Firebird. The young musicians formed an orchestra under the guidance of the Philharmonia Orchestra to learn excerpts from Stravinsky’s score.
