Create & Sing from TVMS & RBO

Tees Valley Music Service (TVMS) is delighted to announce the launch of the next phase of Create & Sing, a nationally recognised creative learning programme delivered in partnership with the Royal Ballet & Opera.
Following the outstanding success of the 2024 programme – which received exceptional feedback from teachers, extensive press coverage and a region‑wide opera celebration – the programme returns for 2026–27, beginning with a FREE, in‑person, certified CPD day for primary teachers across the Tees Valley.
This event aims to provide teachers with practical skills and resources for use in their classrooms. Participants will be able to connect with colleagues from across the region, exchange ideas, and explore different approaches to creative music education. The day is intended for classroom teachers, including those with limited experience in opera, and will offer a variety of activities and materials to support teaching.
Led by Royal Ballet & Opera artists, the day will offer practical training in singing, movement, storytelling and design, with creative materials drawn from Bizet’s Carmen. The CPD is suitable for teachers of all confidence levels – including those with no prior opera experience.
The 2024–25 Create & Sing pathway enabled schools to develop mini-operas, try out new creative learning approaches, and take part in a regional showcase with performers from the Royal Opera. The 2026–27 programme continues this model, providing access to online resources, additional CPD, and opportunities for in-school artist visits and collaborative projects. Schools taking part will receive support throughout the programme and can participate in a regional event focused on music and creative learning.
