Could you be Music Mark’s next HE Rep?
24th April 2026
At the Music Mark HE Conference on 6th May 2026 we will announce the new HE Rep, replacing our existing HE Rep and former Chair of MusicHE, Roddy Hawkins.
The role of the HE Rep is to represent the views of HE members at the Music Mark Advisory Board, to attend meetings of current and future HE Peer Groups, to help develop ideas for HE events to be held online and in-person, and to act as a link to related associations and membership groups. The HE Rep must be an existing Music Mark member and must be to support and act as a critical friend to Music Mark’s staff and especially its Research and Data Manager.
To help support the building of the infrastructure for Music Mark’s HE advocacy, the primary objective of the HE Rep is to build on the momentum of the first HE Conference and to help build the infrastructure for Music HE advocacy for all those working in HE in the four nations of the UK.
Timeline for candidature and voting
In order to put yourself forward and to vote, you must be a member of Music Mark by the time you apply.
If you work in a specialist arts institution or a university department, you can sign up for membership through your organisational affiliation. For example, a department or conservatoire pays for an organisational member, at the current rate of £380 per year. Each member of the organisation must then sign up for an online account in order to become an active member of Music Mark. You can also become an individual member of Music Mark. When you sign up, it is important that you select the ‘Higher/Further Education – (Researchers, Academics, Lecturers)’ category.
Standing for HE Rep
If you wish to put yourself forward, you should send a biography and statement of no more than 150 words explaining why you believe you would be a good candidate for HE Rep to Research & Data Manager, Kerry Bunkhall, at kerry.bunkhall@musicmark.org.uk by Wednesday 29th April 2026.
Voting and announcement of the successful candidate will take place in person at the Higher Education Conference at Cardiff University on Wednesday 6th May 2026.
