About the Review

Q: Why is Music Mark changing the membership structure?
A: Our current organisational membership model is outdated and tied to a funding system that no longer reflects how music education operates. The new structure ensures fairness, transparency, and sustainability.

Q: Who does this change affect?
A: Only organisational members are affected. Individual, School, and Industry Partner members remain unchanged.

Q: When will these changes take effect?
A: The new structure will be implemented from 1st April 2026, or at your next renewal date after that time.

Membership Fees and Pricing

Q: How were the new pricing bands decided?
A: They were based on consultation, research, and financial modelling to ensure the structure is fair and sustainable.

Q: What are the new pricing bands?
A: Bands A–K, ranging from £370 to £1,245 (ex VAT), based on organisational turnover related to music education.

Q: Will I pay more for my membership?
A: Yes, some organisations may pay more or less than before. We’re working to make the transition fair, and will contact those significantly affected individually.

Q: What if the new pricing means a large increase for my organisation?
A: We’re offering a phased transition plan allowing increases to be spread over up to three years, depending on your movement between bands.

Q: How will the phased payment plan work?
A: If your organisation moves from Band B to Band D, your fees would move to Band C in the first year and Band D in the second or third, with a maximum three-year transition period.

Impact and Engagement

Q: Will this affect member benefits?
A: No, all member benefits remain unchanged, and we continue to look at ways to enhance them.

Q: How were members consulted during this process?
A: Through sector research, member feedback, and financial modelling reviewed by our Board of Trustees.

Q: What support is available if my organisation is affected?
A: We’ll reach out directly to those most impacted to discuss options and ensure a fair transition. Please email Chris Buglass if you have any questions.

Q: What happens if I disagree with my new banding?
A: We will be consulting with all members who will be in a higher banding than currently. If we are working on inaccurate data for your turnover, we will happily correct this.

Q: Will the same structure apply across the whole UK?
A: Yes, the model is designed to be fair and inclusive for all UK organisations, regardless of nation or funding model.

Next Steps

Q: How can I provide feedback?
A: We’ll invite feedback through consultation sessions and email communication between November 2025 and March 2026.

Q: Where can I find the full details of the new structure?
A: This will be sent around via email to next week and more info will be available on the website.
