Nigel is a leading music education specialist. He works with a range of local, regional, national and international organisations, providing authentic, authoritative advice and guidance to support strategic and operational improvements. He is also a freelance conductor.

Nigel has enjoyed a substantial and successful career in music education, firstly as a secondary school music teacher, then as head of music services, county music adviser, deputy head of school improvement, head of cultural development and as an Ofsted inspector of schools in England.

He was the founding Chair of Music Mark (The UK Association for Music Education), and was Chair of its predecessor organisation, the Federation of Music Services. He has held terms of office as a trustee/director with the Music Education Council, Manchester Camerata, Sound it Out, Blythe Bridge Music Trust and Make Some Noise. He was an adviser to the Royal Northern College of Music and to Keele University for several years.

Nigel is a proud member of Music Mark, of the Incorporated Society of Musicians, and of the Music Education Council.
