Luan Shaw’s portfolio career spans more than 25 years, involving solo, orchestral, and chamber music performance, recording for television and radio, instrumental, classroom and ensemble teaching and workshop facilitation. Luan is an adjudicator member of the British and International Federation of Festivals, a Diploma examiner for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, and a recording artist for ABRSM’s 2018-21 clarinet syllabus. She has held the Co-principal Clarinet seat with Orchestra of the Swan since 2007.

Luan is Interim Director of Postgraduate Studies and Head of Pedagogy at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire where she has taught since 2011. She was awarded Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in 2015 and her doctoral studies focus on instrumental teacher education in conservatoires.
