£25.08 per hour

Required from January 2020 or sooner if possible, a Woodwind Teacher to join the successful Musica Kirklees team and work within South Kirklees (predominantly Shelley area).

The successful Musica Kirklees team require from January 2020 or sooner a Woodwind Teacher to work within South Kirklees (predominantly Shelley area). There are currently 6 hours of teaching per week available, made up of woodwind teaching in schools, delivery of whole class woodwind and directing woodwind ensembles at Musica Shelley (one of our Saturday morning music centres).

There will be an opportunity to increase these hours through pupil recruitment which would then lead to additional small group/individual lessons and whole classes (Whole Class Ensemble Teaching). The position will be hourly paid £25.08 per contact hour (plus teachers’ pension).

A passion for widening access to music for all children, a proven track record of excellence, a vision for inspiring more young people to learn to play an instrument and the ability to motivate young people to achieve their potential are all essential. You must be able to teach across the woodwind family.

A full driving licence and access to transport is preferential for this role, however if an applicant does not hold a driving licence due to a disability but is otherwise suitable for the role, Musica Kirklees is committed to making reasonable adjustments to the timetable and your application will still be considered.

Musica Kirklees was formed in 1992 and exists to promote the advancement of public education in all aspects of music. We offer access to over 70 exciting groups at our centres in Batley, Colne Valley, Holme Valley, Mirfield and Shelley and our central ensembles in Huddersfield.

At Musica Kirklees, we have over 70 members of staff who provide tuition on voice and a range of instruments including Brass, Guitars, Keyboards, Percussion, Strings and Woodwind. Our 5 music centres and flagship central ensembles give access to a variety of groups from orchestras, wind bands, choirs to jazz, rock, and soul bands.
