Join Kent Music’s Board of Trustees

Are you a finance professional who could use your expertise to impact the lives of thousands of young people across Kent & Medway?

We are seeking a trustee with a strong finance and accounting background and a passion for the role music plays in young people’s lives to join us as we grow our impact across the region.

Help shape the future of music education in Kent and Medway!

Who we’re looking for:

We are looking for a qualified Chartered Accountant, or someone with similar experience in financial accounting, audit, charity finance or financial governance to join our Board of Trustees at an exciting time for Kent Music. You will help to ensure that Kent Music is financially sustainable so young people can benefit from a high-quality music education for years to come.

While the executive team manages day-to-day finances and budgeting, you will work with fellow trustees to provide constructive challenge and support on budgets, financial reporting, controls and long-term sustainability, including participation on the Audit & Risk Committee.

Experience supporting organisations with finance transformation would also be valuable.

We are looking for someone who is willing to engage thoughtfully with the work of Kent Music and the responsibilities of trusteeship. In addition to financial experience, you must have a genuine interest in the power of music education.

In this role, you will:

  • Contribute your professional insight and expertise to Board discussions
  • Support and challenge the executive team in shaping strategy and ensuring sustainability
  • Help oversee the governance, financial health and long-term direction of the charity
  • Act collectively with fellow trustees, sharing responsibility for Board decisions
Why become a trustee?

Being a trustee is both a rewarding and strategic voluntary role. You will play a vital role in shaping Kent Music’s vision, supporting its leadership, and strengthening music education across the region.

Alongside making a meaningful contribution, you will gain experience in charity governance, develop your leadership and strategic skills, and broaden your professional network.
