£43,638 per annum for 36 hours per week based at Surrey Arts, 14 The Pines, Broad St, Guildford, Surrey GU3 3BH.

About Surrey Arts
Surrey Arts, a part of Cultural Services within Surrey County Council, is the lead organisation for the Surrey Music Hub and Cultural Education Partnership. The service works closely with a range of partners to maximise the positive impact of music and the arts for individuals and communities. As well as providing a substantial amount of instrumental and vocal music education for young people, the service manages a range of cross-generational arts programmes. e.g. Artists Open Studios and is developing partnerships to ensure that the arts are used effectively to deliver positive social outcomes in the areas of health & wellbeing, sense of place and education.

The Team
We have a large team of committed teaching and learning professionals and as Teaching & Learning Manager, you will be directly involved in overseeing the day to day management of this team. You will work closely with a job share partner to manage the delivery of instrumental teaching & learning programmes including the development and delivery of groups and ensembles. You will coordinate the work of a small team of senior music instrumental staff. You will be a member of the Senior Management team which includes an Arts Manager, Services Manager, Programmes Manager and Education Managers (Job Share)
You will be involved in a very wide range of activities on a daily basis – from meeting with teaching staff/ school Headteachers, Heads of Music and other stakeholders to overseeing the development and delivery of instrumental/vocal music tuition including groups & ensembles, leading on recruitment to meet customer demand and needs and contributing to business planning and strategy. You will line manage a team of professional teaching staff. Some of your most important duties will be building and maintaining productive relationships with School clients, developing school based and other programmes and ensuring a consistently high level of quality of teaching and Learning across the range of delivery activities provided by Surrey Arts.

To be shortlisted to interview for this position your application will clearly evidence:
•Your experience as a manager and educator through recent successful experience of managing the instrumental/ vocal music curriculum for a music education provider at a senior level, preferably in the context of a music education hub and/or School Music Curriculum, and/ or the ability to combine specialist knowledge in the field of music education with high level people and resource management skills.
•Excellent analytical skills along with strategic planning ability.
•An innovative approach and the ability to influence and motivate people and organisations.
•A degree level qualification in a relevant subject area and a teaching qualification OR evidence of substantial and successful recent teaching experience.
