We are the lead organisation in the Buckinghamshire Music Education Hub and work with Schools and a range of education and music industry partners to deliver, co-ordinate and support access to a wide range of musical opportunities for young people up to the age of 18 in a wide variety of formal and informal settings. The Music Service provides instrumental and vocal tuition on an individual, paired, small group and whole class basis to school-aged children across the age and ability range in Buckinghamshire, through delivery in Primary, Secondary and Special schools; local area Music Centres and wider contexts. BLTM also run an extensive range of ensembles across the County, for beginner to advanced musicians, including the Buckinghamshire County Youth Orchestra, celebrated Aylesbury Big Band and award-winning Classical Guitar Consort. We support and deliver a full schedule of concerts and large-scale performances throughout the year, including the Royal Albert Hall; the Wycombe Swan; international venues and a wide variety of local, national and school festivals. BLTM maintains the development of high quality music education as its highest priority, providing curriculum support in all types and phases of school, ongoing professional training for teachers and musicians and networks for all kinds of musicians and educational and industry professionals to work creatively together.

Buckinghamshire Learning Trust Music is looking for a Teacher of Trumpet and Brass to:

  • Deliver individual and small group teaching from beginner to advanced level on Trumpet
  • Deliver whole class practical musicianship from Years 3 – 6 using Brass instruments
  • Develop and lead ensembles within schools and Saturday morning Music Centres on behalf of BLTM
  • Support public performance opportunities for students
  • The ability to teach piano would be beneficial

Candidates should be specialists on Trumpet but may also be required to do some teaching of French Horn, Trombone and Tuba

The position is a permanent contract and reviewed annually through the BLT Performance Management process. The precise number of hours and specific duties will be decided at interview according to the skills and experience of the candidate. You will need to be a creative, dedicated and pro-active teacher with a passion for music and an eagerness to work as part of a team. You will be required to work closely with schools, parents and other musicians and be flexible in your working patterns. This post does involve the requirement to work at one of the Local Area Music Centres on a Saturday morning and on a minimum of one evening per week.
