Barnet Education Arts Trust has established a satellite consortium to support A level music teaching in Barnet. Face-to-face teaching takes place in twilight sessions at Ark Pioneer Academy with students attending from several surrounding schools and colleges.

Lessons are currently timetabled on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3.45pm – 5.45pm at Ark Pioneer Academy, Barnet, EN5. Additional composition workshops take place every half term holiday. Students prepare to sit the Edexcel A level Music qualification in their own schools.

The current job role consists of 4 hours of teaching and 1 hour of co-planning. All safeguarding / DBS checks are carried out by BEAT. This position would provide part-time hours, allowing you to fit your teaching around other music commitments.

Skills and Experience

  • Ability to prepare and teach lessons that prepare students for the Edexcel A Level music specification
  • Set, mark and assess work carried out by students in lessons and as homework
  • Record, track and monitor the progress of individual students and complete reports as required
  • Passionate about the importance of music with a genuine desire to help all students express their musical ideas
  • A confident, warm and outgoing manner
  • Experience of practical music, technology and instrumental experience in a professional setting
