Hillingdon Music Hub delivers Whole Class, group and individual tuition to children across the second-largest London Borough. We are a thriving and expanding music hub, working as part of Hillingdon Council.

After three years of building up our Singing Strategy we are seeking to expand our popular music offer significantly, plus build up our Singing Strategy to support more schools in the borough, especially in the South. This we will do through special events, routine tuition (in and out of school) and by creating new pop ensemble opportunities out of school.

You have worked in music education or with young people before, and can deliver a range of engaging music projects across different genres that will excite the interest of schools, generate large-scale engagements of students, and prove sustainable in the long term.

You will run performance and music education projects, taking responsibility for budgets, school liaison and evaluation. You will use your musical skills to work personally on some projects while coordinating the efforts of freelancers on others.

You will undertake the line management of a share of our whole peripatetic music teacher team, including overseeing their professional development needs as well as ensuring their safeguarding competence.

The postholder will also create and commission CPD materials for teachers.

You are a musician with hands-on experience of running choral, vocal and/or popular music projects with children, comfortable in multiple genres of music.

You understand from experience how singing and pop works in schools and how young people from 5-18 can develop their confidence.

You will also have the ability to arrange (perhaps even compose) music and the practical skills to administer and project manage music projects from needs assessment and identifying delivery partners all the way through to final delivery and evaluation, able to work unsupervised and to supervise the work of peripatetic and freelance staff.

If you are designated a car user, you will be paid at approved HMRC rates.

The hours of the contract will be annualised across the year to respond to times of greater or lesser demand. Some working may be required during the school holidays, although most work will be focused in the term times.

This is a part-time permanent position working 21.6 hours per week, the salary advertised will be pro-rata.
