We are seeking a highly motivated individual to be instrumental in realising the next phase of our vision for Sefton Music Service and the SKY (Sefton and Knowsley Youth) Music Hub. You will have the drive to lead positive change and take responsibility for Projects, Programmes and the coordination of our Music Centre within the context of a shared commitment to safeguarding.

In addition to helping to shape our strategic direction, you will be able to support musical activities and (occasionally) lead music ensembles. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator and be responsible for on-going communications with parents and pupils who attend weekly musical activities. The successful candidate will have a track record of achieving successful, high quality outcomes for children and young people through music projects/programmes. This post involves a requirement to work outside normal office hours.

This post is fixed term to 31st December, 2019.

Job Purpose

  • To devise and manage a range of music education programmes for children and young people in schools, Music Centres and a range of other venues, in-line with the needs of Sefton Music Service and the SKY Music Education Hub Business Plan 2017-2020
  • To oversee music education projects led by Sefton Music Service and its partner organisations
  • To be the designated Safeguarding Officer and Health and Safety contact for Sefton Music Service

Who we are

Sefton Music Service is part of Sefton Council, Schools and Families Directorate and is the lead organisation for SKY (Sefton and Knowsley Youth) Music Hub skymusichub.com. As a Local Authority service it receives core funding from the Department for Education via Arts Council England.

Our aim is to achieve “A thriving music education hub of inspirational musical activity for all children and young people.”

The Sky Music Hub includes many prestigious partners, including RLPO, The Halle, Manchester Camerata, Brighter Sound, Merseyside Youth Association and Liverpool Hope University.
