Calderdale Music Trust (CMT) seeks a dynamic and inspirational senior leader to build and lead this ambitious music service through its next chapter of growth to become nationally recognised as a best in class!

Our Music Trust has become increasingly well-established since its launch in 2015, building a large and varied client base and bringing together talented young musicians to perform and entertain at local and national concerts. Calderdale Music Trust is supported by over 35 highly qualified specialist music tutors, and offers a wide variety of music programmes for schools and individuals of all ages within the Calderdale region.

We are now in the exciting and enviable position where we are set to grow and further develop the Trust for the future by the acquisition of another charity; Creative Learning Guild. We are seeking to recruit an experienced, inspirational and exceptional Principal to increase capacity and sustainability within Calderdale’s musical community.

Our Opportunity:
This is a pivotal time and therefore a pivotal role for Calderdale Music Trust and a unique opportunity for a creative and entrepreneurial individual with a proven track record in strategic leadership and operational management. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate vision, ambition and drive as well as a profound appreciation for the recent improvements of CMT.

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, and leading a dedicated senior leadership team of four, the Principal will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategy that further develops and builds CMT’s work leading to inspired programming and outstanding live performances.

The successful candidate will ensure that the provision of Music across the Trust is outstanding and everyone is engaged positively in learning. You will be an experienced professional, with experience of directing large musical ensembles and concerts. You will also have the ability to lead on all strategic and operational activities at Calderdale Music Trust and Calderdale Music Education Hub, enhancing the musical direction of the school, while leading and contributing to improving learning outcomes for children and young people.

Financially astute, you will also build partnerships, while delivering an outstanding educational music provision that is sustainable for the long term. In addition, you will promote our ethos and high expectations, while engaging positively and respectfully with our parent/carer/family community, ensuring we meet the needs of our pupils whilst promoting excellence. Above all else, you will have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, and a passion for CMT’s mission.
