New Principal Conductor with effect from the 1st rehearsal of season 2018-19 on Wednesday 5th September 2018. long- and short listed and interviewed with a view to 4 final candidates being trialled in front of the orchestra during season 2017-18, each taking 1 of the season’s 4 programmes leading to a concert. The Mid-Somerset Orchestra wishes to appoint a new Principal Conductor with effect from the 1st rehearsal of season 2018-19 on Wednesday 5th September 2018. The vacancy is created by the decision of Stephen Smith, our current Principal Conductor, to resign from the position due to personal re-location at the end of our current 2016-17 season in July 2017.

The Mid-Somerset Orchestra rehearses at Croscombe Village Hall, Fayreway, Croscombe, Somerset, BA5 3RA on Wednesday evenings in school term time. The orchestra promotes 4 concerts a year, all at Strode Theatre Street.

This appointment is being advertised through appropriate channels and potential candidates will be long- and short listed and interviewed with a view to 4 final candidates being trialled in front of the orchestra during season 2017-18, each taking 1 of the season’s 4 programmes leading to a concert. The final selection will be via a ballot of the members.
