Peripatetic Music Teachers
Slough Music Service is a unique, friendly and expanding music service seeking motivated, talented and reliable music teachers who enjoy working with beginners as well as more experienced players.
We are recruiting a number of instrumental tutors to deliver whole-class, small group and individual lessons in schools across Slough from April 2026. There are also opportunities to contribute to extra-curricular ensembles, holiday programmes and a wide range of concerts and community events throughout the year.
About the Role
You will:
- Teach engaging and high-quality instrumental lessons in a variety of school settings
- Inspire and motivate pupils from diverse musical, cultural and social backgrounds
- Support pupils’ musical progression through well-planned and structured teaching
- Contribute to the wider musical life of the service, including performances and events
We are looking for tutors who have:
- High levels of musicianship and secure knowledge of their specialist instrument
- The passion and ability to enthuse, engage and motivate children and young people of all abilities
- Experience of, and enthusiasm for, teaching beginners
- The ability to plan and deliver high-quality, enjoyable lessons that demonstrate clear musical progress each term
- A strong commitment to professionalism, including excellent timekeeping, accurate completion of registers and timesheets, and clear, friendly, timely communication with schools, parents, students and the music service
Experience, commitment and demonstrated musicianship are more important than formal qualifications. Additional pedagogical training and ongoing support will be provided for the right candidates.
