Peripatetic Brass Teacher – Wider Opportunities Focus

Oxfordshire County Music Service is looking for a brass teacher with experience of delivering Wider Opportunities style teaching to join its team of visiting musicians teaching in schools throughout the county. In order to meet increasing demand and be able to respond flexibly, we are interested in talking to teachers who are willing to take on some work with us, whether it is a couple of hours, a couple of days on a long-term basis, or short-term cover work.

We are looking for teachers who are:

• Able to teach pupils from beginner to grade eight standard in primary and secondary schools on their specialist instrument
• Able to deliver Wider Opportunities teaching on brass instruments
• Able to teach students individually, and in groups
• Able to teach a range of instruments in their family at a beginner level
• Looking for work during the day, evening or Saturdays

The Oxfordshire County Music Service is an “Outstanding Music Service” with an international reputation. It offers weekly instrumental tuition and a thriving programme of other activities and events including vocal; performing arts; music technology; early music; music theory; area Music Centres; early years and adult programmes and courses during the weekends and school holidays. Progression is provided in all its ensembles from big bands and rock and pop groups through to wind bands and orchestras, the more advanced groups of which regularly perform at Oxfordshire’s cultural events, in national venues and in annual overseas tours.

Salary: Hourly rate based on teachers pay and conditions according to experience.

Due to teachers having access to children and/or vulnerable adults, candidates will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
