There are currently 13 hours of percussion teaching, over 3 days per week in a variety of school settings that you would be required to teach every week (during term time). This includes African drumming WCET, samba WCET, and also hand-chimes WCET.

There is also potential to increase your working hours (as detailed below).  Teaching takes place over 33 weeks during term time.

You will require an Enhanced DBS and you will need to be able to transport yourself between different schools during each working day

Responsibilities:

  • Delivering high-quality percussion lessons to students of all ages and skill levels.
  • Plan effective lessons
  • Inspire students to develop a love for music and a lifelong passion for playing percussion.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience teaching percussion to students of varying abilities.
  • Proficiency in music theory and percussion skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enthusiasm for working with children and adults.

Our organisation is very interested in teachers who can recruit pupils for individual or small group lessons, or for WCET sessions in schools – this would expand your hours within your control. For new teachers, we provide up to 15 hours of paid recruitment per year (as directed by your line manager).

Musica Kirklees is passionate about providing access to music to all children. You should have a commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, as well as a proven track record of excellence, a vision for inspiring more young people to participate in music, and the ability to motivate young people to achieve their personal best.
