The South Gloucestershire Music Hub serves a unitary authority of diverse population. 61% of the population live on the Bristol borders with the remainder in thriving rural towns and villages. It is a great place to live and work.

The hub’s 58 Associate Music Teachers work in the majority of our schools teaching whole class, small group and individual teaching to 4,000 students a week. We punch above our weight at music centre level with representation at the Music for Youth National Festival in Birmingham for 7 out of the last eight years. We have also performed as part of a massed ensemble at the MfY Proms in the Royal Albert Hall.

Our standards are high and we are rightly proud of over 600 students who have achieved a 100% pass rate at Trinity exams over the last two years.

The person appointed to this senior post, reporting to the Music and Arts Strategy Manager will play a significant role in maintaining the high standards achieved in teaching and learning in music but will also develop new programmes. In particular we are looking to build on the innovative plans we are developing for rock and pop music and early years’ music.

You will line manage the Vocal Development Leader, three Heads of Music Centre and supervise the 58 Associate Music Teachers who work in the majority of South Gloucestershire schools.

You will have a proven track record of music education expertise from either working in the classroom or in a music service.

You will need excellent management and leadership skills with an ability to inspire and lead your team whilst being able to communicate at all levels.

South Gloucestershire Council is committed to treating everyone fairly, to challenging inequalities and to promoting equality of opportunity for all. We welcome applications from everyone and value diversity in our workforce.
