The National Open Youth Orchestra (NOYO) is a world first, an ambitious orchestra launched in September 2018 to give some of the UK’s most talented young disabled musicians a progression route. It promotes musical excellence, empowering disabled and non-disabled musicians aged 11-25 to rehearse and perform together as members of a pioneering ensemble.

Midlands Arts Centre, partnered with Town Hall Symphony Hall and Services For Education, have recently announced a major partnership with NOYO. Together, they will act as the Birmingham NOYO Centre, with rehearsals commencing in September 2021. We are currently recruiting for a Music Leader and an Assistant Music Leader to lead and conduct the new NOYO Birmingham ensemble.

Our ambition is that the leadership and workforce is more reflective of the diversity of contemporary England. We are particularly interested in receiving applications from people of all cultures and ethnicities, including those that may experience racism in our society, those with LGBTQ+ identities, neurodivergent and/or d/Deaf and disabled and those that have experienced socio and economic barriers.
