Music Instructors
We have an opportunity for enthusiastic and talented music instructors to join our team in Summer 2026 for a range of ongoing work in schools and music centres.
One Education Music provides high-quality music making opportunities for children and young people across Manchester, supporting music in 186 schools across the city and delivering 6 weekly music centres. and in a variety of community & partner settings, delivering 25,000+ hours of musical activity for children and young people each year.
Music is an essential part of every young person’s education, building their confidence, creativity, cultural awareness and many more transferable skills which underpin their success across the whole school curriculum. Our offer is designed to provide high-quality and accessible musical opportunities to pupils in all settings, responding to needs at all levels of experience, and creating pathways towards a lifelong love of music.
We have an opportunity for enthusiastic and talented music instructors to join our team in Summer ‘26 for a range of ongoing work in schools and music centres.
We’re interested in hearing from candidates across the following specialisms:
- Guitar/Ukulele (c. 15 hours)
- Violin (c. 5 hours)
- Cello (c. 4 hours)
- World percussion (inc. djembe & steel pan) (c. 4 hours)
- Woodwind (c. 6 hours)
- SEND music (c. 6 hours)
Benefits include:
- £24.85 per hour + holiday pay (supplementary hours paid for curriculum delivery)
- Mileage for work travel – 80p/mile
- Ongoing CPD and Training
Guitar Instructor (c. 10 hours per week)
Wednesday (4 hrs)
- Whole-Class Guitar
- Secondary Guitar Tuition
- Evening Centre-Based Guitar
Thursday (2 hrs)
- After School Club
- Centre-Based Guitar
Saturday (4 hrs)
- Morning Centre-Based Guitar Tuition
Ukulele Instructor (c. 5 hours per week)
Monday (3 hrs)
- Whole-Class Ukulele
Tuesday (2 hrs)
- Whole-Class Ukulele
Whole-class programme delivery across two days.
Guitar + Ukulele roles can combine to approximately 15 hours per week (c. 0.6 FTE) depending on candidate experience and availability.
Violin Instructor (c. 5 hours per week)
Friday (1 hr)
- Whole-Class Violins
Saturday (4 hrs)
- Centre-Based Ensembles + 1:1 Tuition
Cello Instructor (c. 4 hours per week)
Saturday (4 hrs)
- Centre-Based Ensembles + 1:1 Tuition
Opportunities include ensemble direction and individual tuition.
Percussion Tutor (c. 4 hours per week)
Monday (2 hrs)
- Steelpan (Centre-Based)
Friday (2 hrs)
- Whole-Class Djembe (flexible percussion specialism considered)
Woodwind Tutor (c. 6 hours per week)
Monday (1 hr)
- Whole-Class Tin Whistle
Friday (5 hrs total)
- Recorders / Doods & Toots Programme
Strong Friday teaching block.
SEND Music Specialist (c. 6 hours per week)
Monday (4 hrs)
- Curriculum / SEND Music
Tuesday (2 hrs)
- SEND Music
Experience in SEND and inclusive practice is essential.
