An inspirational, entrepreneurial and skilled music education professional with previous experience in a relevant leadership role and an inclusive ethos is sought by North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Councils to jointly lead their respective Music Education Hubs lead organisations from September 2020. This exciting joint role involves working with Arts Council England and local stakeholders across both Music Education Hubs where you will have the opportunity to build upon high quality existing provision to develop new strands of work, enable fresh partnerships, take forward musical engagement and increase participation.

You will take a lead role in strategically planning, managing and organising the development and delivery of music education services for children and young people and for specific groups of service users such as the vulnerable and older people including:

• Instrumental tuition
• Singing
• CPD for schools and other facilitators
• Ensembles and other performing groups

• Management of a budget of circa £2million

Within very active and supportive education communities this is a fantastic opportunity for an educator with sound business acumen to build upon strong foundations to meet the needs of all young people, schools and settings. Innovative new provision is ready to launch, and new informal and online learning opportunities are ripe for development.

A qualified teacher with a degree in Music/Music Education you will have demonstrable skills and experience in partnership working, detailed knowledge of best practice in music teaching, up to date knowledge of national music polices and successful previous experience in a relevant leadership role. You will also have a high level of instrumental/vocal performing skills, excellent communication skills and the personal skills needed to lead people to deliver high standards of performance and develop services. The services are fully traded and you will need to be able to demonstrate strong financial management skills and have a good understanding of Music Hubs and Arts Council England expectations.

This is a joint role where your time will be split 50:50 between the 2 authorities and the employer will be North Somerset Council.
