We are seeking a number of instrumental tutors to teach whole class, individual and small group lessons in schools from September 2026. There are also opportunities to be involved with extra-curricular groups, holiday clubs and various events throughout the year.

The successful applicants will have the following attributes:

  • The ability to demonstrate high levels of musicianship and in-depth knowledge of your specialist instrument
  • The ability and passion to enthuse, engage and motivate children and young people of all musical abilities and backgrounds
  • Experience of, and enthusiasm for, teaching from beginner level
  • The ability to plan and deliver high-quality, enjoyable lessons that ensure every student’s musical skills and knowledge progress each term
  • The ability to maintain high professional standards at all times, including excellent timekeeping, accurate timesheet and register administration, and clear, timely communication with schools, parents, students and the music service

For these posts, experience, commitment and a high level of demonstrated musicianship are more important than formal qualifications. Additional pedagogical training and ongoing support will be provided for the right candidates.

All staff are subject to Slough Borough Council safer recruitment protocols, including pre-employment checks, an Enhanced DBS check and the taking up of all references.
