Instrumental Provision Music Advisor
This is an exciting opportunity to join Trafford Music Service's Senior Leadership Team as an Instrumental Provision Music Advisor. The role is a fixed term for up to 12 months for Maternity Cover working 32 hours per week.
Working Arrangement: 32 hours per week – flexible on days/hours however must be available on Tuesdays, Wednesday evenings, Thursdays and x6 Monday evenings and Saturday mornings across the year.

About the Role
Join our Senior Leadership Team and help drive excellence across Trafford Music Service. We are seeking an experienced, people centred leader to:
- Provide high quality and effective line management of music teachers.
- Ensure outstanding provision across our schools and Music Centre.
- Oversee the development and marketing of our infant programme.
- Lead strategically on inclusion for the Music Service and oversee our inclusive Together Orchestra.
- Shape the growth of instrumental opportunities in primary schools.
- Lead the development of holiday provision.
- Manage, organise and oversee bespoke projects which may include some of the following: exam sessions, soloist concerts, concerts in the community, holiday provision, music residentials.

About You
Your style and approach will reflect our Music Service values and behaviours. You will be committed to continually learning, improving processes, and refining systems to ensure high quality music provision for all pupils.
Success in this role relies on exceptional organisational ability, strong ICT skills, and a meticulous approach to processes and record‑keeping. You must be able to work efficiently to deadlines, communicate clearly, and coordinate provision across multiple settings.
We are seeking someone who can demonstrate effective staff management and development, strong leadership qualities, and excellent interpersonal skills. Above all, we want someone who is passionate about inspiring the next generation to be musical.
You should have a minimum of three years’ experience working with children or young people in an educational or musical setting, and hold a degree in Music, Education or a closely related field.

This post is 32 hours per week (0.88 FTE) on an NJC contract with access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.
The role requires working at least one evening per week at the Music Centre and/or being available for a duty morning to manage staff absence and cover.
The successful candidate must be able to work on Tuesdays, Wednesday evenings, and attend Senior Leadership Team meetings on Thursday mornings. They must also be present at the Music Centre on occasional Monday evenings and Saturday mornings (one per half term) to oversee the infant provision.
With the exception of the above, all other working hours and days are negotiable, with flexibility to work from home where appropriate and depending on organisational needs (for example, when in‑person attendance is required for meetings).
The Music Service runs concerts once per term, which take place on a weekend (usually a Sunday) and all managers are required to attend.
An enhanced DBS check with children/adults barred list check will be required.
