We are looking for committed, professional and energetic Tutors to teach students in 1-1, small group and / or whole-class and ensemble settings. Whole-class teaching placements require Tutors to work in partnership with a school class teacher or with another Tri-borough Music Hub Tutor as a Lead Tutor / Support Tutor pair.

Required Skills
Experience of working with primary and secondary aged children is desirable and Tutors will be expected to be qualified to a minimum of Music Diploma. You must be able to teach up to Grade 8 standard with an understanding of the requirements for the preparation and planning of lessons, target setting and assessing outcomes.

Applicants should have prior, proven experience of teaching children or young people in 1-1, small group and / or whole-class and ensemble settings. Knowledge of WCIL is advantageous and we would welcome applicants with QTS.

Hours are part-time and variable; however, you must be able to commit to working for 30 weeks of the year during school term time.

The Tri-borough Music Hub (comprising the local authorities of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Hammersmith & Fulham, and Westminster) was created in September 2012 and has rapidly gained a nationwide reputation for excellence of service delivery and an outstanding model of partnership work, winning multiple prestigious awards.

We wish to recruit skilled and enthusiastic individuals for our Tutor pool, to create a large skill base from which teaching vacancies can be filled as they arise.
The Tri-borough Music Hub firmly believes in the Continuing Professional Development of its Tutors – high-quality termly CPD and other opportunities will be provided, and all Tutors are expected to fully engage with the training opportunities offered.

Rates of Pay

  • Individual or Small Group Tutor / Whole-class Support Tutor / Small Ensemble Leader: £30.26 per hour
  • Whole-class Lead Tutor / Large Ensemble Leader: £33.62 per hour

Tutors receive an annual contract with The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and submit monthly claims for teaching work completed.

Please note applicants who do not provide all of the above at time of application will not be invited to interview.

Interviews will take place on Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 January – please do not apply if you are unavailable on these dates.

Shortlisted applicants will be required to provide proof of right to work in the UK at interview. Successful applicants will be required to complete a formal application form as part of the recruitment process.

Successful applicants will be required to have an enhanced check by the Disclosure and Barring Service which is registered with the Update Service. Work can only be offered to those with an enhanced DBS registered with the Update Service, therefore if you do not already have one you are strongly advised to start the process before applying.
