Independent Chair – Gateshead and South Tyneside Music Education Hub

Gateshead and South Tyneside Music Education Hub is seeking a new, independent and experienced Chair, to join our existing Board. We recognise to achieve our aims, and delivery of the National Plan for Music Education, we need a wide and varied contribution to our thoughts, plans and ideas, and will be further recruiting new Board members in the coming year. For the role of Chair, we welcome and encourage applications from anyone over the age of 18 from all sectors and backgrounds. We especially welcome and encourage applications from people with backgrounds currently underrepresented on our Board, particularly people who are Black, Brown or Minoritised, people from the LGBTQ+ community, and people who are disabled.

Gateshead and South Tyneside Music Education Hub is re-advertising for an Independent Chair to join our existing Board. As we emerge out of the Pandemic, the challenges facing Music Education, ensuring we can offer quality music curriculum and instrumental tuition to every child, have increased. We recognise to achieve our aims, and delivery of the National Plan for Music Education, we need a wide and varied contribution to our thoughts, plans and ideas. The new Chair will help us to review our recovery plans, including increasing the diversity of our Board members over the coming years.

We welcome and encourage applications for this Chair role from anyone over the age of 18 from all sectors and backgrounds. We were not successful in recruiting an independent Chair in our previous advertisement campaign. We are therefore re-advertising, with a longer application process, to recruit more candidates to help us steer the future of music education across our two Local Authorities.
