We’re looking for a Head to lead during an exciting phase of development for Yorkshire Young Musicians, delivering high-quality, inclusive music education for ambitious young musicians across Yorkshire and The Humber.
The Head of Yorkshire Young Musicians (YYM) provides strategic and operational leadership for YYM as a regional Centre for Advanced Training, ensuring that the organisation delivers high-quality, inclusive advanced music education and enables young musicians aged 8–18 to fulfil their potential, regardless of background or personal circumstances.
YYM is in an exciting period of development with multi-year funding secured to support refreshed engagement and Hub Partner Programmes launching in 2026. The postholder will lead YYM through the next phase of development, strengthening clear and inclusive progression pathways from first engagement with YYM through to advanced training, conservatoire, university and wider musical futures. They will champion YYM’s focus on potential, broaden access through partnership with Music Hubs. music services and other partners, and ensure students receive exceptional music education, pastoral support and progression guidance.
This is a key leadership role, balancing strategic development with hands-on operational management. The Head will act as the principal representative of YYM, working with trustees, staff, families, music hubs, funders and regional partners to extend YYM’s reach, strengthen its impact and secure long-term sustainability.
