Head of Service

Bury Music Service is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and inspirational leader for the role of Head of Service.

As an independent music service with a proud history of excellence, innovation, and community impact, we are a Local Lead Partner in the Greater Manchester Music Hub. We are passionate about ensuring that all children and young people in Bury have access to high-quality, inclusive, and inspiring musical experiences — both in and beyond school.

This is a significant leadership opportunity for someone with the vision and capability to drive forward our strategic priorities, support a highly skilled team, and nurture our strong relationships across schools, families, and the wider music education sector.

We are looking for a Head of Service who:

• Brings substantial experience of leading in music or arts education settings, at a senior or service-wide level.
• Creates a positive and empowering working culture where staff feel valued, supported, and motivated.
• Has the confidence to lead an independent organisation, balancing a not-for-profit ethos with satisfying shareholders, whilst also complying with Arts Council statutory requirements. .
• Is financially astute, innovative in approach, and skilled in building collaborative, purposeful partnerships.
• Is a visible and passionate advocate for the power of music in young people’s lives.
