The Brent Music Service team includes 50 teachers working weekly with over 10,000 children and young people in 60 schools, 3 lead tutors with management responsibilities and 5 other staff working in our offices at Claremont High School, Kenton. Brent Music Service is the lead partner of the Brent Music Education Hub and is fully committed to the associated musical development programmes and joint projects.

Brent Music Service is looking for a dynamic, aspirational and experienced leader during an interim transitional period. This person will take senior line management responsibility and oversee delivery of all external-facing projects, the continuity of current weekly teaching in Brent schools and the Brent Music Service evening centres across the borough.

The role will include managing and supporting key partnerships with Brent schools, key delivery partners (e.g. RPO, OAE, Live Music Now), funding partners and colleagues across the council.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in the navigation of the service through a key period of transition brought about by Arts Council England’s restructure of local music hubs. They will also ensure the successful delivery of the new National Plan for Music Education at a local level throughout the borough.

The successful candidate is likely to have experience of teaching and managing in a school, music service or in the education sector. For this reason both TPC and Soulbury will be considered.

The role requires clear-thinking and strong communication/interpersonal skills with the ability to be lively and engaging. The successful candidate will also need to quickly assimilate a large amount of information and data to safeguard Brent Music Service operational and policy foundations.

In the role, you would need to appropriately use all modern communication forms including email, social media, video, instant messaging, video, telephone and face to face.
