Freelance Senior Music Practitioner

£29.29 per hour

We have an opportunity to join Bristol Plays Music (BPM) the Arts Council England’s Music Education Hub for Bristol, managed by Bristol Music Trust, at a key time for the Trust during our major capital campaign. You will join an existing pool of freelance music practitioners and play a part in developing Bristol Plays Music ambitious education aspirations and enjoy being part of a vibrant arts organisation.

Bristol Plays Music runs a busy and ambitious programme of activities at music centres across the city, partnerships with Guildhall School and the LSO are providing exciting new opportunities for all young musicians to reach the highest level and we are looking for a passionate and committed Senior Music Practitioner to particularly help develop and lead our Bristol Junior Strings Orchestra at our Music Centre West based in Southmead, Bristol. This runs on Saturday mornings, but work could be offered across Bristol Plays Music.

 

The role requires a high level string specialist with particular experience of enabling young musicians to achieve their potential and a high level of expertise in leading, conducting, composing and/or arranging and inspiring youth orchestras and ensembles.   You will have experience of teaching and playing string instruments to a high standard, excellent communication skills, including experience of liaising with a wide range of people, and practical experience of management strategies in teaching.

We are an inclusive practice organisation and welcome applications from musicians experienced in working with children in challenging circumstances, including children in care and children with SEND.

All BPM Freelance Music Practitioners receive comprehensive and high quality CPD throughout the year including training, networking and mentoring and we welcome applications from our existing pool of music practitioners.
