Drums/Vocal Tutor

Lancashire Music Service are seeking instrumental teachers, specifically in the percussion and vocal discipline to teach 1-1, group and whole class lessons across the county. Established for over 60 years, LMS deliver tuition to over 20,000 pupils per week in a variety of settings.

This is a self-employed role, paid between £25.20 and £28 per hour, depending on lesson type, deliverable over 34 weeks in an academic year. You may be asked to teach at several schools or settings in one day, so being a car user is strongly advised. These lessons may take place in a school during the school day, or at one of our Music Centres or Ensembles in an evening or weekend.

You would be expected to plan and prepare your materials, develop good relationships with your schools and stakeholders, deliver lessons and travel between settings as necessary.

You should be an organised individual, enthusiastic with an energetic approach with excellent computer literacy, including the use of music technology – with an open mind to learning new techniques and approaches.

Qualified Teacher Status is not necessary, although teaching experience is desirable – training will be provided to prepare you for the role if appointed, as well as being given a company iPad and any resources you might need (including instruments and music technology equipment). You would also be given access to Charanga Professional and ongoing CPD and support. The ability to teach more than one instrument or family is highly desirable, however we are principally looking for percussion and vocal tutors.
