We are looking to appoint a new Director of Junior Academy, ideally for the Spring 2019 term. Reporting to the Deputy Principal and Dean, you will provide creative and stimulating leadership to both teaching staff and students, whilst playing an integral role in the delivery of the artistic and educational mission of the Academy.

The Royal Academy of Music has a distinguished history and reputation as one of the world’s leading conservatoires. Since 1935, the Junior Academy has been a part of the Royal Academy of Music, offering outstanding weekend tuition to young, talented musicians aged 5-18.

We are looking to appoint a new Director of Junior Academy, ideally for the Spring 2019 term. Reporting to the Deputy Principal and Dean, you will provide creative and stimulating leadership to both teaching staff and students, whilst playing an integral role in the delivery of the artistic and educational mission of the Academy. You will have overarching responsibility for the management, organisation, planning, development and day-to-day operation of Junior Academy within the broad aims of the Academy as a whole. Working closely with the Senior Management Team, you will also be responsible for revising and implementing a progressive and robust Widening Participation Strategy for Junior Academy, including a Student Recruitment Strategy to ensure that Junior Academy is accessible to children and young people from the widest possible demographic backgrounds.

You will have extensive experience as a musician and teacher with detailed knowledge and understanding of practice-based music education at pre-HE level along with knowledge of the musical standards within the sector. You will have hands-on management experience, with the ability to manage significant change and development within an organisation. You will demonstrate inspirational leadership qualities to staff and students alongside a proven track record of delivering long-term, strategic results.

The Junior Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. This appointment shall be conditional on passing a full Disclosure & Barring Service check, including verification with past employers.

Salary: Competitive: Full-Time or Part-Time by Negotiation
