We are looking for an excellent Co-ordinator of Instrumental Music with a passion for music and education. This post will suit an outstanding musician and performer with excellent subject knowledge and experience, and the enthusiasm and creativity to engage all our students in this important aspect of the life of the school. You should be a well-qualified graduate, committed to delivering an exceptional learning experience for every pupil. Music is a popular and successful subject at Woldingham, with students applying to university and Music College each year, including Oxbridge. The department consists of a team of the Director of Music, the Head of Academic Music, a part-time classroom teacher, a Music Administrator, and 20 Visiting Music teachers. There is a strong focus on independent learning, with a culture of sharing ideas and resources.

The department is housed in the Millennium Centre, and comprises the Dineen Auditorium – a 600 seat concert hall/theatre – a Recital Room, a Music Studio, the Live Lounge, 2 academic teaching rooms, a Midi suite, and 12 practice rooms (including a Percussion Studio). There are 2 orchestras, 5 choirs, Jazz Band, Percussion Ensemble, Flute Choir, Scholars’ Ensemble, and a number of chamber groups – piano trios and string quartets. Music has a high profile within the school. There is a major concert in each term, along with solo recitals, Scholars’ concerts, Live Lounge performances, and informal concerts. The department collaborates closely with Drama, usually producing 3 productions a year. Liturgical Music is also important, with the department providing music for the services and masses through the year. This culminates in the annual Carol Service for the whole Woldingham School community at Westminster Cathedral in December.
