We have openings for two well-qualified, inspiring and enthusiastic instrumental tutors (Clarinet and Drums) to work in an outstanding, over-subscribed school which values all types of music, with almost half of its children involved directly in learning a musical instrument. Deansfield is an innovative, oversubscribed primary school in Eltham, committed to providing an outstanding education for all its children. Deansfield forms part of the exciting Compass Partnership of schools with South Rise Primary, Horn Park Primary, Halstow Primary, Alderwood Primary, Wingfield Primary and Willow Dene School. Sessional Clarinet Tutor: A well-qualified, inspiring and enthusiastic Clarinet tutor is required to join our large and vibrant music department as a sessional tutor. The schedule is likely to be 3 hours per week. Pupils learn in small groups. Children are encouraged to work towards music exams.
Sessional Drum Tutor: A well-qualified, inspiring and enthusiastic drum tutor (drum-kit & Djembe drums) is required to join our large and vibrant music department as a sessional tutor. The schedule is likely to be 7.5 hours per week. Pupils generally learn in small groups. Children are encouraged to work towards music exams.
Ideally both tutors will:
• be experienced with working with children
• show commitment to the agreed schedule of lessons at school
• have a minimum of Grade 8 in the instrument to be taught, preferably Diploma
Music plays a central part in the life of the school. The successful candidates will join a friendly and supportive community of dedicated professionals. We currently have 7 sessional music tutors teaching a wide-range of instruments to almost 200 children, under the guidance of our full-time music leader. In addition to instrumental lessons, children have a weekly general class music lesson where they develop essential musical skills. There are many opportunities for children to perform regularly: the school has three choirs, a school orchestra, and two percussion ensembles.
Deansfield is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils attending the school. As the duties of this post involve regular contact with children, any offer to the successful candidates will be conditional upon an Enhanced Disclosure obtained via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
